Report: Watford want title-winning Rangers warrior
Premier League newcomers Watford have joined the race to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, according to the Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old is currently playing for Finland at Euro 2020 and has caught the in games against Denmark and Russia.
Kamara has been a unsung hero in Steven Gerrard’s team over the last 12 months.
His form for the Ibrox-based club saw the Gers finally wrestle the Scottish Premiership crown away from the clutches of Celtic.
Kamara made 51 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring twice and claiming two assists.
He has been a Rangers player since 2019 when he checking in from Dundee.
Kamara is an energetic defensive midfielder and fits the criteria of what Watford are looking for this summer.
The Hornets won promotion back to the Premier League by finishing second in the Championship.
Now, Xisco Munoz will aim to continue their momentum and enjoy a comfortable top-flight campaign.
Kamara has played 106 times for Rangers in total and has proved a really shrewd signing for the champions.
He is now also starring on the international stage and has 30 Finland caps to his name.
Rangers are unlikely to want to sell their player, although the lure of Premier League football could prove too tough to turn down.
Watford can seal shrewd signing by landing Kamara
Plenty of clubs will be taking a look at Kamara and Watford might have to pull their finger out with this one.
Kamara won’t be making any move until his involvement in Euro 2020 is over but once it has Watford should pounce.
The 25-year-old looks tailor-made for the Premier League. He carries the ball well, puts himself about and is strong in the tackle.
Signing him is unlikely to cost an absolute fortune and some calls should certainly be going in Gerrard’s direction.
Watford were unfortunate in being relegated during 2019/20 and the signing of Kamara could ensure a better Premier League campaign.
