Watford are hoping that they have put an offer on the table that lands the Hornets Leeds defender Barry Douglas on loan, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (11/10; page 61).

Douglas’s Elland Road future remains in a little doubt. He is yet to feature in the Premier League for the Whites, and is attracting some Championship interest.

As noted by The Sun on Sunday (11/10; page 61), Watford and Blackburn Rovers both want the 31-year-old. However, the former are hopeful that their offer will be enough to see off Tony Mowbray’s side.

Interestingly, the report adds that Watford are looking to take Douglas on loan.

It would potentially be a surprise if he was allowed to leave Leeds on loan. As noted by the Daily Mail, his contract expires at the end of the season.

Having said that, Marcelo Bielsa will be aware that Douglas is not playing as much as he would like. So if the defender has any interest in leaving, the Leeds boss may be more willing to listen to loan offers.

Much may depend on whether Douglas wants to go or not. He, of course, was sold to Leeds after helping Wolves to promotion.

And you could understand if Douglas wanted to stick around in case a chance came his way – especially as the January window is not so far away.

So it will be very interesting to see how the coming days play out for the defender.
