Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion have seemingly received a transfer boost, with the Daily Mail reporting that Watford have accepted that Troy Deeney is set to leave the club this summer.
Another report from the Daily Mail late last month claimed that the Baggies were in talks with the Hornets regarding a potential move for Deeney.
Meanwhile, the Mail also suggested that Spurs were monitoring his situation.
And the Daily Mail has now claimed that Watford are resigned to losing the 32-year-old this summer. It is noted that they do not plan to stand in his way should a suitable offer come in – and that could even potentially lead to a loan exit.
TBR View: West Brom need Deeney more than Spurs
It remains to be seen whether the Baggies and Tottenham step up their interest. In truth, it would be little surprise to see both strengthen their attacking ranks before the transfer deadline.
Deeney is likely to be a player who divides Tottenham fans. Some may be in favour of a move given his respectable record and the fact that Jose Mourinho only needs someone who can provide cover for Harry Kane.
Nevertheless, it would appear that Slaven Bilic’s side potentially have a greater need to add Deeney to their ranks.
They have re-signed Callum Robinson, but they still need more depth up front ahead of their Premier League return.
