Report: Vieira wants Euro 2020 star at Crystal Palace who Ian Wright lauded
Crystal Palace and new manager, Patrick Vieira, could make a move for Denmark striker Kasper Dolberg this summer, says The Sun.
Dolberg had lit up the Euros with a string of fine performances which brought him three goals in the tournament. The former Ajax starlet lived up to the hype around him, and he has clearly caught the eye.
And now, Patrick Vieira could look to bring Dolberg to Selhurst Park as part of his efforts to improve the Palace squad this summer.
The former Arsenal midfielder was picked as the man to take the club forward following Roy Hodgson’s departure. Vieira has a lot to prove in management, having flattered to decieve thus far in his career in that role.
Dolberg is expected to cost at least £25m this summer. Vieira also has an eye on Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah, who could be slightly cheaper.
It’s been abundantly clear for a few seasons now that Crystal Palace need a goal threat through the middle. They’re too reliant on Wilfried Zaha, who once again faces an uncertain summer.
Dolberg would be quite the statement signing, though. He’s certainly a player who would excite the Palace fans.
The 23-year-old was one of the best prospects in Europe when he broke through at Ajax. Indeed, Ian Wright touched on that very matter when praising him during the Euros.
Dolberg did only hit six goals for Nice last season. However, after a positive summer, his confidence looks to be back. Palace, then, could well land themselves a bargain here.
