Report: Versatile 20-year-old prospect joins Tottenham after Arsenal release
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly completed the signing of Tobi Omole following his release by Arsenal at the end of last season, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
The versatile 20-year-old, who can play as a central midfielder or across the back line, is reported to have penned a one-year contract at Spurs.
Omole was at Arsenal for six years, making 48 league appearances for the Gunners Under-18s and Under-23s, but was let go in the summer.
The youngster has been on trial at Tottenham and was named in Wayne Burnett’s matchday squad last weekend, coming off the bench as Spurs U23s ran out 1-0 winners over Arsenal U23s.
Omole was also named on the bench today as Spurs U23s took on Southampton U23s, taking to the pitch in the 85th minute en route to a 2-1 win for the Lilywhites.
Although Omole had impressed for Arsenal’s Under-18s, he wasn’t getting regular game time at Under-23 level.
It looks as though he has done enough to secure himself a deal at Spurs though, and hopefully he’ll kick on and show his former employers that they were wrong to let him go.
Omole is set to be the second youngster to cross the North London divide this year, after Jonathan Dinzeyi joined Arsenal a month ago following his release from the Tottenham setup.
