A London club have made a major offer for Diego Carlos, according to a report from The Athletic, in news that may certainly catch the attention of Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

Of course, Newcastle United look to be the side in the driving seat to lure Carlos away from Sevilla. It has been claimed that he had told his club that he wanted to leave for St James’ Park. Personal terms have reportedly been agreed.

However, the Magpies are now in danger of missing out. Carlos has suggested that he expects to stay put. Meanwhile, Sevilla want around £50 million for the 28-year-old. Newcastle have offered £30 million.

It was reported by the Daily Mail that Tottenham are also admirers of the Brazilian. So The Athletic’s latest report may well catch their attention.

David Ornstein has suggested that a London club have made a major offer for Carlos. Intriguingly, the journalist added that Arsenal are not the team to have made the bid.

Obviously, it remains to be seen if Tottenham are the team to have made the offer. But Antonio Conte is keen to sign a centre-back this month.

The Telegraph has reported that Spurs are in talks with AC Milan regarding a potential move for Japhet Tanganga. So Tottenham’s need for another centre-back may only increase in the coming days.

Spurs have also done business with Sevilla in recent months.

Who could possibly rival Tottenham for Diego Carlos?

There are four other Premier League sides based in London. West Ham certainly need a new centre-back this month having been without Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna in recent times due to injury.

Meanwhile, Chelsea currently have Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta out of contract in the summer.

Brentford and Crystal Palace are the other candidates. But it would be a surprise to see either go anywhere near the £50 million Sevilla reportedly want for Diego Carlos.

So Tottenham must surely be favourites. But clearly, West Ham or Chelsea must also be candidates.
