It appears that Scotland youth international Fraser Hornby is on his way out of Everton, with Stade de Reims the likely destination.

The 6ft 4ins striker has impressed in stints for Everton and his nation and many felt he might have a first-team future at Goodison Park.

Indeed, Everton under-23 coach David Unsworth spoke of his ‘high hopes’ for the player back in 2019 in conversation with the official club website.

“For him at his age to be leading the line for Scotland’s Under-21s is terrific. Fraser has come a long, long way in a very short space of time. There is lots and lots of work still to do with him but that is work he will get done.

“We have really high hopes for him and we will give him every opportunity to showcase the talent that we think he has got.”

Despite this, Everton sent him out on loan to Belgian side KV Kortrijk this season where, after initially impressing, he fell out of the first-team picture.

Now a move to the French side appears on the cards, although the Liverpool Echo suggests one potential stumbling block in that deal.

They are claiming that Hornby has another club also chasing his services.

It is claimed that an unnamed German club is interested in Hornby who, according to the report, is likely to cost around £1.8 million.

Whilst the advanced state of his negotiations with the French side would suggest that Reims is his most likely destination, it appears clear that the German side is also an option for the 20-year-old.

Wherever the former Northampton Town talent does end up, Everton fans will hope he becomes a success. Although, they must also be hoping the club does not live to regret his sale.
