Tyrese Campbell has told Celtic that he would choose to join Rangers should he decide to head to Scotland, according to a report from the Daily Record.
The Record reports that the Gers and Hoops are keen on the Stoke City forward, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
The report notes that Sheffield United are also interested in the 20-year-old, who has scored five Championship goals for Michael O’Neill’s men this season.
The Daily Record stresses that Campbell is yet to make a final decision on his future. But it appears that one side in the running has been ruled out.
According to the Record, Celtic have been told by Campbell that he would rather move to Ibrox if he heads north of the border.
TBR View – Major statement for Rangers
It will mean little for Rangers if they ultimately missed out on the young striker. But it could be a big statement if they do manage to sign Campbell.
He has impressed for the Potters this season. His record is much more impressive when you consider that he has only started seven league games.
And with a Premier League side also in the running, Rangers would send out a big message if they do manage to land his signature.
They clearly have more work to do before his future is resolved. But Rangers have reportedly seen off competition from one of their rivals.
