According to ESPN, Arsenal will face a big fight to land Martin Odegaard this summer, with at least two other Premier League clubs having made enquiries.
The report from ESPN claims the Gunners are desperate to sign Odegaard. However, two other clubs in England are also said to have expressed interest in bringing the Real Madrid man over permanently.
It comes in the midst of Odegaard impressing in North London. His performances since arriving in January have caught the eye and Mikel Artet has also been impressed with the Norwegian.
While there is no mention of the other two clubs interested, Liverpool may well be one. AS claims the Reds could tempt Odegaard to Anfield, with the midfielder a big admirer of the current PL champions.
PSG are also said to be keen on the Madrid star, while the other English side remains a mystery for now.
TBR View: Things never straight forward for Arsenal it seems
The issue Arsenal will have in bringing Odegaard in is if other clubs offer European football, then he might be tempted to try his luck elsewhere.
Sure, he fits in well with the Gunners and is exactly what they’ve been looking for in recent times. But he wants to play at the very top level so there’s little point leaving Real Madrid for mid-table obscurity.
The Gunners need to act fast if they want to land Odegaard. Otherwise, it could prove another transfer tale of woe for Edu and Arteta.
