Jack Clarke is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur this week, with the Leeds United winger set to undergo a medical on Wednesday – and TeamTalk have reported two important clauses in the deal.
It is believed the 18-year-old will join Spurs for an initial £10million this summer, which could rise to as much as £14million if the future add-ons are met. They are likely to be based on appearances and goals.
But there are two clauses included the deal that could prove intriguing to Leeds fans. The first, is that Leeds have first option to bring Clarke back to Elland Road on loan, if Tottenham agree to loaning the teenager out.
Leeds reportedly wanted to take Clarke back on loan for the season, but Tottenham rejected that. Instead, it has been agreed that a clause will be inserted to allow Leeds to have first option – if Spurs change their mind over a loan.

The second clause is that a 20 per cent sell-on clause has been added to the deal. That means Leeds will receive a fifth of Clarke’s next transfer fee, no matter how big, or how small.
TBR’s view – Clarke clauses benefit Leeds
The clauses are significant. Spurs are likely to keep Clarke this summer and give him a chance to break into the side, which is an enormously tall order. But if he struggles, Leeds may have the chance to sign him on loan in January.
On the other hand, if Clarke does impress and goes on to see his value sky rocket, any future transfer is only going to benefit the Yorkshire club – as they will receive a fifth of whatever Spurs offload him for.
Yes, losing Clarke is a blow, but the add-ons and the initial £10million fee certainly soften that.
