The Evening Standard have claimed in their deadline-day blog (Friday, 10.50am) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott is set to remain at the club this month, despite interest from English clubs and Alan Pardew’s Ado Den Haag.
Parrott, 17, was expected to leave the club on loan before Friday’s 11pm deadline with the north London side desperate to bring in a new striker. Olivier Giroud and Islam Slimani are the two likeliest options as the deadline counts down.
Ireland international Parrott was believed to be interesting Championship sides QPR and Charlton Athletic, with QPR already boasting Spurs youngsters Luke Amos and Jack Clarke. Pardew wanted to take him to the Netherlands with Den Haag.
However, with Spurs yet to bring in a new striker, it is now claimed that Parrott is going to remain at Spurs beyond the January deadline. The decision has been made to keep Parrott, due to UEFA’s homegrown rules.
Due to a UEFA regulation surrounding homegrown players, Tottenham have opted to keep him beyond his 18th birthday.

TBR’s view – Will Tottenham sign a striker if Parrott stays?
Though a top, top talent, Parrott needs regular first-team football to maximise his potential and eventually become a regular in Tottenham’s side. Playing for the club’s reserve side is hardly going to see him do that.
Now he has the taste of first-team football, and a cap for Ireland, he needs to leave the club on loan. But with Spurs keeping him due to UEFA rules, will Spurs sign a new striker? It remains to be seen.
