Report: Troy Parrott set to join new side after Tottenham recall

The Mail have claimed that third-tier side Ipswich Town are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott on loan before Monday’s 11pm deadline – despite the Irish striker being recalled following the injury to Harry Kane.

Parrott, 18, spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Millwall – but the Ireland international failed to score a single goal in 14 league and cup appearances for Gary Rowett’s men. He was recalled after Kane’s double ankle injury.

However, it looks as though Parrott will go on loan for a second time this season – this time dropping down a further division to team up with Paul Lambert’s Ipswich. The Potters sit in 11th place, but have games in hand and are four points off the play-offs.

TBR’s view – Parrott needs a confidence boost

He might just get that at Portman Road. He was unfortunate at Millwall, an ankle injury picked up early on and then only starting 10 of his 14 games for Rowett’s men – failing to complete 90 minutes on any occasion.

He needs to join a side where he is first choice and when the striker finally gets his first professional goal, that self-belief will blossom. At Ipswich, he has a much better chance of doing that – than he does at Millwall.
