Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to make an offer for Flamengo midfielder Gerson, according to reports.
Goal is suggesting that the 23-year-old midfielder could soon be the subject of a proposal from Tottenham to make the move to North London.
It is claimed that Spurs are willing to pay up to €18 million (£16.2m) for the player, who has been a star in Flamengo’s excellent recent form.
The Brazilian under-20 international only returned to Brazilian football last July, after stints with Roma and Fiorentina in Italy. He has since rediscovered his best form back in his homeland and helped Flamengo win the Copa Libertadores last November.
His impressive form has seen him on the radar of Brazilian national team boss Tite and it would appear Tottenham have also been impressed. It is suggested Tottenham first began to follow Gerson in December, at the behest of new coach Jose Mourinho.

But Tottenham may struggle to convince Gerson into a move.
The player is reportedly happy at Flamengo and enjoying working with the head coach Jorge Jesus. The midfield dynamo also believes that regular football in Brazil is his best shot at making Brazil’s World Cup squad for Qatar.
Undoubtedly, his previously unhappy experience in Europe with Roma will not be helping Tottenham’s cause regarding the idea of convincing him into a move back to the continent.
Gerson is certainly the sort of dynamic midfield option that Mourinho appreciates so it would be no surprise if Tottenham were indeed in the hunt for his services. But convincing him to leave his fairly comfortable surroundings looks likely to be a tougher challenge.
