Harry Winks will be told by Tottenham in January that he is free to find himself a new club, according to a report by Eurosport.

The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and the resurgence of Tanguy Ndombele.

Moussa Sissoko is also ahead of him in the pecking order and Winks is massively out of favour under Mourinho.

Last night, Tottenham made several changes for the Europa League game against LASK. Winks was an unused substitute, despite the fact the boss chose to utilise some of his fringe options.

The 24-year-old is a graduate of the Tottenham academy, playing 153 times for the club.

Winks will have aspirations of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for next summer’s European Championships and right now his prospects look slim.

He needs to be playing regular football and it might not be a bad thing for Tottenham to allow him to leave.

Winks hasn’t featured in the Premier League for Spurs since coming off the bench in a 3-3 draw against West Ham United.

Tottenham should be extremely careful with regards to letting Winks go permanently.

At 24 he is still improving and he showed for both club and country that he is a very capable player on his day.

Winks earns £50,000-a-week at Tottenham which doesn’t put him among the club’s top earners.

With that in mind, it might be ideal for Spurs to let Winks leave on loan, to begin with, and see how he performs with a view to him coming back and making an impact.

The man with eight England caps is far too good to be sat on the bench all season and a loan move in January could prove ideal.
