Football London is reporting that Tottenham will listen to offers for Paulo Gazzaniga during the January transfer window, with the Argentine way down the pecking order.

The 28-year-old is officially the club’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart who arrived on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.

He hasn’t been named in the club’s 25-man squad for the Europa League, with Jose Mourinho handing Alfie Whiteman his debut from the bench in place of Hart last week.

Gazzaniga signed for Spurs from Southampton during the summer of 2017 and has done well for the club when called upon.

When Lloris picked up a serious elbow injury last season he stepped in with aplomb and in total made 25 appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.

It would have been a real sickener to see Hart overtake him in the pecking order and at 28, he will want to be playing regular football.

Everton were reportedly interested during the last transfer window, although their deal to sign Robin Olsen will probably have ended their desire to sign the Tottenham man.

Gazzaniga is on £20,000-a-week at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and isn’t among the club’s high earners.

With Whiteman coming through the ranks, however, it makes sense the club to try and offload him.

He produced some tremendous performance with his display against Liverpool in October the pick of the bunch.

Falling down the pecking order behind Joe Hart though must have stung and right now the best option for him is to leave.

Game time is going to be hard to come by at Tottenham and given his age he should really be pursuing regular first-team football.
