Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Watford are all interested in a move for Monaco defender Guillermo Maripan this summer, according to reports.
Diario AS is suggesting that the former Alaves star is of interest to all three Premier League sides, who are hoping to strengthen their centre-back options.
The report claims that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the player and sees him as a potential centre-back solution at Spurs. West Ham, who were linked during Manuel Pellegrini’s reign, remain interested under new management in David Moyes whilst Watford will also hope to bring the 6ft 4ins powerhouse to English football.
It is suggested that Monaco previously valued the 24-cap Chile international at €40-€50 million (£35m-£45m) but in light of the current global health, situation could settle for a deal in the region of €25 million-€30 million (£22m-£27m), as they look at Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente as his replacement.
Tottenham could be in the market for a new centre-back, given their troubles defensively this season and Maripan is the sort of defensively sound option that Mourinho would love.
West Ham and Watford would also love to bring in a player of Maripan’s physicality, coupled with his expertise on the ball.
This certainly appears to be a transfer story to keep an eye on once the current season is finally concluded.
