Transfer20 have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are just one of five Premier League sides interested in bringing Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho to the Premier League this summer.
Carvalho, 28, joined Betis in the summer of 2018 after an influx of players left Sporting Lisbon following a raid on their training ground. It saw the likes of Rui Patricio depart, who is now playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves are one of the six sides interested in Portugal international and Euro 2016 finalist Carvalho, who managed just nine appearances this season due to a back problem. Tottenham, West Ham, Leicester and unnamed top-six side are also keen.
It is believed that Betis will be willing to let Carvalho depart for £26million this summer, despite having a contract until 2023. The Mirror claimed in 2016 that Mourinho wanted to sign Carvalho during his time at Old Trafford.
TBR’s view – Carvalho move bad news for Ndombele?
Tottenham lost Mousa Dembele in January 2019 and looked to replace the powerful Belgian with the signing of France international Tanguy Ndombele last summer – a move which ticked all the boxes on paper.
Fast forward less than a year and Ndombele is already being linked with an exit. Indeed, interest in other central midfielders – especially ones that boast similar traits to Ndombele – is surely bad news for the Frenchman.
Surely, a move for Carvalho would see Ndombele depart?
