Report: Tottenham want to sign £44m 'attacking' CB likened to Lilian Thuram, can also play RB

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu, according to CMW.

Spurs are reportedly looking to bolster their ranks following a somewhat underwhelming first half of the season.

However, Spurs have also flattered to deceive on occasion and have dropped a fair few points.

Tottenham’s defence could do with strengthening, while right wing-back remains a problem for Antonio Conte.

It doesn’t look as though the Italian rates Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty or Djed Spence particularly highly.

With that in mind, CMW claims Spurs are now looking at Kalulu, a talented centre-back who can also play right-back.

The Italian outlet claims Milan have placed a £44million price tag on the ‘extraordinary’ Frenchman.

In addition, Japhet Tanganga has been tipped to potentially play a role in a player-plus-cash deal.

Tanganga is out of favour under Conte, with just one appearance for Tottenham so far this season.

Tottenham target Kalulu – factfile

Kalulu came through the ranks at Lyon and moved to Milan in September 2020 for a reported £1.1million.

The 22-year-old never made a senior appearance for Lyon, but has clocked up 76 for the Rossoneri.

Kalulu has also won multiple caps for France at youth level, but is yet to make his senior debut.

A central defender by trade, he has also featured regularly at right-back and occasionally at left-back.

In fact, Kalulu was actually a right-back in his formative days, before being shifted more centrally.

Fans on Twitter have compared him to Lilian Thuram, another top centre-back who also shone at right-back.

Kalulu seems like a good shout for Tottenham. However, would Milan be willing to sell such a key player mid-season?
