Belgian utility player Timothy Castagne is reportedly wanted by Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

It is being reported by TuttoMercatoWeb that Spurs have been ‘sending signals’ to his current club Atalanta regarding a potential deal for a long time.

The Belgian is currently under contract with the Italian side until the summer of 2021, which could make him an affordable target for any interested party.

The 24-year-old can play in a number of positions, featuring most prominently as a wing-back on either side for La Dea in their exciting 2019-20 campaign.

He can also play as an orthodox full-back with central midfield not beyond his capabilities.

Previously linked with both Crystal Palace and Celtic, the versatile star admitted to Derniere Heure in February (as reported by Football Italia) that he would like to play in England one day.

“I want to end the season in style, after the European Championships, we will see if Atalanta makes it into the Champions League for next season.

“It would certainly not be a bad thing to stay. I also don’t know which teams will contact me, we will see.

“England has always attracted me…”

With Tottenham struggling for options both at right-back and left-back the versatility Castagne would bring must be a major selling point when considering him as a transfer option. The fact he will be relatively cheap due to his contract situation will also make him an attractive proposition for Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho.
