The report states that Hitchen was unaware that Tottenham had made moves to bring in Paratici. BBC Sport report that the former Juventus figure will join the club soon.

Hitchen is a popular figure within Spurs. Former manager Mauricio Pochettino was a huge fan of the transfer guru. The now PSG boss labelling the 44-year-old as ‘fantastic’ via Express Digest.

The former Macclesfield Town player has an impressive history when it comes to signings. Hitchen brought Luka Modric to Tottenham, whilst for Liverpool, the ex-defender was key to Luis Suarez coming to Anfield.

Paratici’s imminent arrival at Tottenham complicates matters for Hitchen, though.

As per the Athletic, the Italian will oversee all football activities within the club, including appointing a new manager this summer and signing new players. These tasks have, until recently been, handled by the Spurs technical performance director.

Hitchen could leave Tottenham after Paratici appointment

Indeed, although the club want Hitchen to stay, his future is still up in the air. And with his powers and impact with the club seemingly weakened, there could be a good chance that the former chief scout leaves for greener pastures.

Hitchen is highly rated in English football and would not be short of suitors should move on this summer. And the sudden arrival of Paratici could be the single event that sets off a chain reaction resulting in the former Macclesfield defender leaving north London for good this summer.
