Report: Tottenham want Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic
Spanish website TodoFichajes have claimed Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic this summer, and could land him for a bargain £13.5million.
Savic, 29, has rid himself of the reputation that saw him flop at Manchester City – and since become a rock under the guidance of Atletico’s defensive-minded manager Diego Simeone. He recently starred for Atletico at Anfield.
The 50-time Montenegro international has more than 150 appearances under his belt at Atletico and that is testament to the rock-solid defender he has become. Spurs, meanwhile, are looking to replace Jan Vertonghen.
The report claims Savic is keen on a potential move to north London this summer and he could be available at a cut-price figure of just £13.5million. He has a contract at Atletico until the summer of 2022.

TBR’s view – Savic could be a bargain buy for Spurs
At such a cheap price, Savic would be an excellent signing for Tottenham. With Vertonghen due to leave, Toby Alderweireld past his best and Davinson Sanchez’s form up and down – and Savic would be a top addition.
The former Fiorentina defender has been in excellent form and is a completely different player to the one that flopped at City. An absolute no-brainer for Spurs, if they do pursue a deal for Kieran Trippier’s teammate.
