Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are both interested in signing Yannick Carrasco in the final hours of the January transfer window, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Carrasco has been superb since returning to Atletico Madrid following a spell in China. In fact, he has five assists in La Liga for Diego Simeone’s men this season.

But he may get offered the chance to leave the Spanish capital for a second time. Foot Mercato reports that both Tottenham and Newcastle are ‘very interested’ in signing the Belgian.
Meanwhile, his agent has held talks with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United regarding a potential summer move. Foot Mercato reports that clubs in England have even considered triggering his release clause, worth £50 million.

Tottenham could make huge statement with deadline day bid for Carrasco
Tottenham probably do not urgently require a left-sided player on deadline day. But Carrasco is a fantastic talent who can play on either flank. And if there is a deal to be done, he would be a brilliant buy for Antonio Conte.
Simeone has previously described him as a ‘very complete‘ player.
He would potentially prove to be the club’s second biggest buy in history, should Tottenham activate his release clause in the final hours of the window (Transfermarkt).
It would be a big surprise if he ended up in North London. But it would be an exciting move if Spurs did ask the question of the title-winners.
