Report: Tottenham unlikely to sign 33-goal international this summer

It’s looking unlikely that Tottenham will be the next club for Gareth Bale, after his agent admitted there was no clause for Spurs to take him from Real Madrid again.

Bale had an inconsistent season with Tottenham last term. However, he finished the season well and did ok with Wales this summer.

The former Southampton youngster is now back in Madrid, though. And while some Spurs fans were led to believe there would be an option for another year, it appears that isn’t the case.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has confirmed as much today.

What’s been said?

Barnett has been speaking to the Evening Standard and has made it clear that Bale’s future remains uncertain for now.

Despite talk of a Spurs return, Barnett dismissed that idea. Instead, insisting there was no clause for the club to automatically bring Bale back.

“As I have said from the beginning, there is no option. Gareth has no agreements whatsoever. He is under contract to Real,” Barnett said.

Bale walked off from an interview after Wales lost to Denmark. Questions over his future remain, with mentions of a move to the MLS also emerging.

However, reports today also suggested Bale will be in Madrid next year.

Next club a big step for Gareth Bale

Whoever Bales moves to next is likely to be his last career move. He’s won all there is to win in Madrid, so it’s likely to be what suits Bale and his family the most.

When all is said and done, he’ll go down as a Welsh great. His time with Madrid has been littered with controversy. But on the pitch, he has delivered.

If Bale does land a new club, then they’ll be getting a fine player.
