AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek has reportedly had a video call with Jose Mourinho, amid heavy speculation about him joining Tottenham Hotspur this month.
That’s the claim made by Polish outlet Sport.pl, who say that although his future is unclear, the club are now pushing hard to sign the player as cover for Harry Kane.
Spurs have a matter of days to bring in some attacking reinforcements, with the England captain potentially out for the rest of the season.
Supposedly he won’t resume training until April (Spurs official), and youngster Troy Parrott is the only out-and-out striker available to Mourinho.
The Monday chat with Piatek was an opportunity for Mourinho to outline his plans for the striker and perhaps a means of convincing the player to join.
Piatek is being tipped to leave San Siro following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
TBR’s view – Piatek can be brilliant addition for Spurs
Hopefully, for Spurs fans there’s some truth to the report Mourinho has had some involvement in trying to get Piatek signed.
It’s a nice touch from Mourinho that is bound to make Piatek fell wanted by the club.
Piatek joining Spurs could be a really good bit of business.
It hasn’t quite happened for him this season, but he showed some deadly finishing when he first joined Milan from Genoa, and maybe a change of environment will help him to rediscover his mojo.
