Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly sent scouts to Turkey to check out highly rated midfielder Ozan Tufan.
According to a report from Fanatik, the Portuguese is apparently a big admirer of the 24-year-old , who has been starring for Fenerbahce this season, and is keen to get a ruling on him.
The 49-cap Turkey international has played started every single Super Lig match so far this season, and has contributed two goals and five assists for the giants.
Versatile Tufan has played in a variety of positions from central midfield to right midfield and even right-back.
Fenerbahce’s next outing is against Galatasaray in what is known in Turkish football as the ‘Intercontinental Derby’, which is where Spurs scouts are expected to be present.
They may not be the only representatives there, with Everton, Leicester City and Crystal Palace also reportedly interested.
The player’s agent recently confirmed that he has a release clause of €20 million/£17 million (Turkish-Football).
TBR’s view – Tufan could be great value
£17 million is not a massive amount of money in today’s market, and Tufan is a great age and can play in a variety of positions.
He has also worn the captain’s armband for Fenerbahce on several occasions this season, suggesting he can bear responsibility and show leadership.
The standard of the Super Lig is levels below that of the English Premier League, but Tufan clearly has ability – to have racked up 137 appearances in the division, and 49 caps for his country by the age of 24 is very respectable.
