Report: Tottenham to be offered James Rodriguez in any Real Madrid Harry Kane deal

Tottenham Hotspur could end up signing James Rodriguez when the next transfer window opens, according to a report from Canal RCN.

The Colombian has been linked with a summer exit from Real Madrid recently, with Arsenal, Everton, and Wolves seen as the frontrunners in the race to sign the 2014 World Cup Golden Ball winner.

But the report from Canal is suggesting that Rodriguez could also be a potential Tottenham target. The 28-year-old is touted as a potential Christian Eriksen replacement in the report and undoubtedly, Tottenham fans would welcome his signing.

However, it is not that simple. In fact, it seems as though Tottenham are only going to get the chance to sign James as part of a deal for Harry Kane.

The England captain has recently been linked with an exit from Spurs this summer, with The Telegraph valuing him at £150 million.

However, amid the global health crisis, even Real Madrid would struggle to pay such a big fee when the transfer window reopens.

With that in mind, Los Merengues would be looking at a way of reducing the cost of a potential Kane swoop – with £50m-valued Rodriguez a major potential helping hand.

Rodriguez also shares an agent with Mourinho, the Portuguese superagent Jorge Mendes, which could help smooth over any details of a potential deal.

With the current economic situation, it would be no surprise to see plenty of players being swapped as part of deals in the weeks and months ahead.
