Report: Tottenham to battle London rivals for 22 y/o Euro 2020 star; Paratici is ‘an admirer’
Tottenham have joined the race for Sassuolo and Turkey defender Mert Muldur, with Arsenal and West Ham also keen on the fullback.
According to the Daily Mail, the north London club are tracking the 22-year-old right-back. London rivals West Ham are keen on Muldur, whilst Arsenal also have a long-standing interest in the youngster.
As per the report, Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici is ‘an admirer’ of Muldur, who featured twice for Turkey in this summer’s Euro 2020. The defender’s contract with Sassuolo expires in 2024.
With head coach Nuno Espirito Santo just a week into his new role with Tottenham, transfers will likely be on the agenda as pre-season starts for Spurs.
Indeed, it is not yet known which formation the former Wolves boss will deploy. Nuno favoured a 3-4-3 with the Molineux club. However, the Portuguese coach switched to a four-at-the-back style in some games last season.
Formation should not be a problem for Muldur, though. The defender is regarded for his versatility and can play both on the right and the left. The fullback made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Emilia-Romagna side.
Indeed, Sassuolo have earned plaudits in recent years for their stylistic and attacking football in Serie A. The Italian club finished eighth in the league last season.
