Report: Tottenham target who earns more than Kane set to be released; Paratici signed him in 2016
Tottenham target Miralem Pjanic is set to leave FC Barcelona this summer for free.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Bosnia international will tear up his Barcelona contract and leave as a free agent. Samuel Umiti will also depart the La Liga giants.
The Catalan giants are eager to shave off as much as their wage bill as possible this summer. Barcelona have debts that surpass over €1bn according to Forbes.
And this decision could be of some note for Tottenham. According to Sport, Spurs are keen on the former 31-year-old midfielder. Furthermore, Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici signed Pjanic for Juventus in 2016.
Tottenham are keen on signing a central midfielder this summer. As reported by the Athletic, Harry Winks is open to leaving the club following a season of little first-team football for the England international.
New manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to make a quick impression on the Tottenham supporters. Yet signing Pjanic could be a risky move for the Portuguese coach.
Indeed, whilst the Bosnian midfielder is no doubt a fantastic technical player, the past season with Barcelona has been one to forget for Pjanic.
And with the 31-year-old earning a reported £271,000-a-week for the La Liga side as figures from Salary Sport show, significantly more than Harry Kane according to Spotrac, Tottenham could find it difficult to agree to a suitable contract with Pjanic.
