According to Italian football news outlet Gazetta. It, Lazio are now in the race to sign Tottenham target and Fenerbahce striker, Vedat Muriqi.

A powerful striker, Muriqi is a wanted man this summer after a fine season for the Turkish giants saw him score 17 times. He also laid on an impressive seven assists in an excellent campaign.

Last week saw Spurs linked with a move for the forward, while all the way back in January, the Sun claimed the north London club were eyeing a £20m bid for Muriqi.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to add some more firepower to his strikeforce in order to take the burden off of Harry Kane. The England man was once again the focal point for the club last season, supported well by the likes of Son and Lucas.

However, they do need another number nine, especially given the amount of time Kane seems to spend out injured.

Muriqi, then, could well be the ideal signing. But with Lazio now in the race, Spurs once again face competition and could yet lose out on a player who will be keen to test himself outside of Turkey.

Tottenham needs to get someone in who can cover or step in for Harry Kane and Muriqi would appear to have all the attributes to be able to do just that.

Powerful, strong, and with a keen eye for a goal it seems, Muriqi should be able to step into the fold both with and without Kane.

It’s a situation Jose Mourinho needs to sort out, really. Otherwise, if Kane gets another injury, Spurs could be looking down the barrel at another difficult season.
