Turkish outlet Takvim have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi, after being linked with the target man in the January transfer window.
Muriqi, 25, has been in excellent form for Fenerbahce this season, scoring 15 goals in 27 league and cup appearances. England fans may remember Muqiri, who scored in England’s 5-3 win over Kosovo at Southampton’s St. Marys Stadium.
According to Aksam back in January, both Spurs and Burnley saw offers worth £20million rejected for the centre-forward. However, the latest report claims Spurs are not done there, and have set aside £17.5million for Muriqi.
Fener would not have wanted to lose Muriqi in the January window, midway through a title challenge. But with the summer offering more chance to buy a replacement, Spurs may land him cheaper and they are keen to bring him to north London.
TBR’s view – Should Tottenham sign Muriqi?
Keeping Harry Kane is becoming tougher for Spurs. With the striker growing closer to his peak, Kane will want to start adding trophies to his name – and at Tottenham, that simply is not happening right now.
Manchester United and Juventus have been linked over the past few days. But even if Spurs manage to keep Kane, signing Muriqi would be good business. Likely to accept a back-up role, Muriqi is cheap and offers a plan B.
