Goal have claimed over the weekend that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has lost the ‘trust’ of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, and could still be sold this summer.
The 28-year-old star has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs, following the summer signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon. Oliver Skipp is also being preferred due to his age.
Harry Winks, Eric Dier and Moussa Sissoko are also above the Kenya captain in the pecking order, and Sky Sports claimed on deadline day that the former Southampton star was allowed to leave on loan.
He could still leave the club with foreign transfer windows ending on September 2. Now, he has reportedly lost the trust of his manager with all signs pointing towards the exit door.
TBR’s view – Wanyama needs to be sold by Tottenham
It is the best move for all parties. The former Southampton and Celtic star is supposedly in the peak of his career, but he is lacking in game time and is unlikely to be handed much any time soon.
Wanyama is now behind Skipp, Winks, Dier, Ndombele and Sissoko, making him sixth choice. So far down the pecking order surely means there is little chance of reclaiming such a tall ladder.
A loan move to La Liga or even back to Celtic have got to be considered by Wanyama, or his career is likely to dwindle in the background at Spurs.
