Report: Tottenham set sights on 'outrageous' £50m forward who's been compared to David Ginola

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs are gearing up for a busy transfer window in wake of a £150million cash injection from the club’s owners.

Antonio Conte also got Tottenham into the Champions League, which will increase their pulling power.

Admittedly, if they’re after Saint-Maximin, they’d have to deal with arguably the richest football club in the world.

However, the 25-year-old may not be completely out of reach for Spurs.

Back in April, the Daily Mail claimed that Newcastle could possibly cash in for around £50million this summer.

Also, Saint-Maximin told So Foot earlier this month that he’d have 15 assists to his name if Newcastle went and signed an elite finisher.

He was reported to have said: “The day that I play alongside a player capable of finishing, I will have seasons with 10-15 assists, and I’m going to change dimension in the minds of people.”

Apparently, that did not go well at St James’ Park.

“Never seen anything like it before”

However, Saint-Maximin is also an incredibly talented player who excites fans whenever he gets on the ball.

“He’s a great character, he’s a good kid, a little bit misunderstood by some,” Isaac Hayden said on The Beautiful Game Podcast earlier this year.

“Talent-wise, natural ability, him and Santi Cazorla are the best two players I’ve played with.

“Technically, he (Santi) was the best player I’ve played with. But, in terms of raw ability, Allan, honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it before.

“I’m being deadly serious, there’s not one player in the Premier League who has got the raw ability he has. It’s outrageous, it’s frightening.”

Some fans on social media have even compared Saint-Maximin to David Ginola, a cult hero at both Newcastle and Spurs.
