Report: Tottenham scouting £17m-rated striker Daka, Liverpool and Guardiola linked

The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to watch RedBull Salzburg striker Patson Daka ahead of the summer window, with the African speed machine having had a hand in a whopping 46 goals for the Austrian side this term.

Zambia international Daka, 22, has been in lethal form under Jesse Marsch this season – who is about to replace Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig. The striker has scored 34 goals in 41 games this term, while also laying on an impressive 12 assists.

Daka has been strongly linked with a move to England in recent months. Back in March, Salzburger Nachrichten claimed that Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City were all interested in the attacker. The Express claim he is rated at £17million.

Now, The Daily Mail name Daka as a potential name that could be brought in to replace Harry Kane – with the England skipper reportedly telling Spurs that he wants to leave the North London club. It also states that Tottenham are scouting Daka.

TBR’s view – Daka would give Tottenham something different

But is he the man to start up front and play week in, week out? Daka has enormous speed, work rate and clearly, lethal finishing. However, in the Premier League, a physical focal point is crucial – just ask Wolves.

Raul Jimenez’s head injury was very worrying, but his absence has also seen Wolves go from a European-chasing side to one that was nervously looking over their shoulder. Daka is not the Kane, Jimenez, Edinson Cavani-type striker.

But his goals are hard to ignore and at £17million, he is certainly worth a punt.
