Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea sent scouts to watch Amadou Diawara during Roma’s clash with Juventus on Sunday, according to a report from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

It would be little surprise to see Jose Mourinho target a new signing in the middle of the park this month. Moussa Sissoko has just started what looks set to be a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Tanguy Ndombele has seen just 25 minutes of game-time since the turn of the year as he continues to struggle with his fitness.

And it appears that Mourinho’s midfield woes have prompted Spurs to take a closer look at Diawara.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham have been tracking Diawara for several months, and they appear to have stepped up their interest by sending representatives to watch Roma face Juve at the weekend.

It is suggested that the pair may be looking at the 22-year-old ahead of next season. So it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham bring plans to target the Guinea international forward.

TBR View – Mixed evening for Diawara

It was a disappointing clash for Roma who were beaten 2-1 by the Old Lady. Juve had gone 2-0 up inside 10 minutes at Stadio Olimpico.

And Diawara’s statistics perhaps highlight how it was a difficult evening for the youngster. Whoscored.com shows that he was tidy in possession, successfully completing 59 of the 62 passes he attempted.

However, he only completed one successful challenge having attempted four during the game. And he was dribbled past on three occasions.

Of course, Juventus remain the pace-setters in Italy. But with Spurs perhaps looking for the signings who are going to take them back into the title picture in the coming years, they may have been hoping to see a much better display from the holding midfielder.
