Tottenham Hotspur failed with a bid to sign Moussa Dembele from Lyon last week, according to a fresh report on Deadline Day.
GFFN have claimed the north Londoners were keen to snap up the Lyon striker, and lodged a formal loan bid with obligation-to-buy, similar to the terms they agreed with Real Betis over Giovani Lo Celso last summer.
Dembele is said to have wanted the move, but manager Rudi Garcia blocked the move.

GFFN add that Spurs were frustrated by this, and they then moved on to Carlos Vinicius.
A deal was closed last week for the Brazilian, who has signed on loan from Benfica with the club having an option-to-buy.
Dembele has been a real hit since joining Lyon from Celtic for a reported £19.7 million (BBC Sport) in the summer of 2018, scoring 44 goals in 98 games in all competitions.
TBR’s View – A missed opportunity for Tottenham
Vinicius may ultimately prove to be a great signing, but one can’t help but wonder what might have been had Spurs been able to land Dembele.

Although he was quality for Celtic, the 24-year-old’s game has vastly improved since he went to Ligue 1, and his deadly finishing would have been brilliant for Spurs.
Spurs hit Manchester United for six yesterday suggesting goals won’t be too hard to come by if Jose Mourinho can get his tactics right in games to come, but Dembele’s prowess surely would have been welcome.
Hopefully for Tottenham fans, Vinicius can quickly prove his worth in north London.
