Tottenham have eyes on both Nikola Milenkovic and Sven Botman as potential defensive recruits, according to respected journalist, Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on the We Are Tottenham TV podcast on YouTube, Romano confirmed that both players are on the radar of Spurs as Jose Mourinho looks to secure defensive reinforcements.
Milenkovic, 23, has previously been linked with a move to Spurs and Man United, with the Sun claming in December a potential £23m move could be on the cards.
Botman meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, although reports have claimed Lille are desperate to hold onto the defender until the summer.
Romano, though, claims that both players are of interest to Tottenham in some capacity.
“Milenkovic is an interesting situation because his contract expires in two years. At the moment he doesn’t want to extend his contract and Fiorentina knows that he wants to move. Let’s see if Tottenham will go for him or not, but for sure he’s appreciated. At the moment he’s not the first choice, but he is appreciated,” Romano said.
“Also they have some rumours about Botman, so I think in the coming months will see. But at the moment these two names are interesting Tottenham for sure.”
TBR View: Two options among many it seems, Mourinho certainly wants someone
It seems the Spurs boss is intent on adding a new defender and Botman and Milenkovic are just two names in a whole host of potential signings.
However, both are of suitable quality. Milenkovic, in particular, looks a quality player having impressed in Italy and with Serbia.
But there seems to be a long way to go here and any big deal seems unlikely in January unless the club can sell Davinson Sanchez.
