Report: Tottenham ready to open contact over signing £47m midfielder, he's been incredible at the World Cup

Tottenham Hotspur are less than two weeks away from their Premier League campaign restarting after the World Cup.

It’s felt like a long break, but plenty of Antonio Conte’s squad will be full refreshed after six weeks off.

The January transfer window is also just around the corner, and La Repubblicavia Sport Witness – have some news regarding Spurs.

Conte looks set to use the winter window to try and bring in a few more reinforcements.

Spurs have a successful summer in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Richarlison and making Cristian Romero’s move permanent.

It helped them achieve their best ever start to a Premier League campaign.

A few injuries in attacking areas saw their form start to falter, and the World Cup break came at a good time.

However, Conte won’t want to risk a repeat taking place in the second-half of the season with Champions League qualification still at stake.

La Repubblica have offered an update on Tottenham’s recent interest in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

They believe Tottenham are ready to open contact with the Italian club to discuss a potential move for the Moroccan.

However, a deal doesn’t look like it’s going to be easy to negotiate.

Tottenham open contact with Fiorentina over Amrabat

The Italian publication suggests Spurs are ‘currently the most interested club’ in Amrabat.

This is positive news; however, they also believe Fiorentina are unlikely to sell the midfielder in January.

They value Amrabat at around £47m (€55m) which is a steep price for a player who may not be a guaranteed starter at Spurs.

The 26-year-old has been one of the standout players at the World Cup, helping Morocco reach a historic semi-final.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t quite help his side overcome France last night.

However, he will be fondly remembered for an unbelievable challenge he put in on Kylian Mbappe.

It’s a positive sign that Tottenham have managed to open contact with Fiorentina for Amrabat.

Given the numbers of clubs now interested in him, Spurs need to get a head start if they’re going to get their man.
