Stefan De Vrij could leave Inter Milan in the summer, with Inter Live reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer the centre-back a four-year deal at the behest of Antonio Conte.

De Vrij is out of contract at San Siro at the end of next season. And he is yet to agree fresh terms. Inter could therefore, look to sell the Dutchman this summer.

Inter Live reports that the Serie A champions could let him leave for up to £25 million and look to replace him with Gleison Bremer. And it would appear that De Vrij’s most likely destination could be Tottenham.

Inter Live reports that Conte has specifically requested that Tottenham sign De Vrij this summer. And with that, they are ready to put a four-year deal on the table.

The 30-year-old would also net around £104,000-a-week in North London.

There is still an element of doubt surrounding Conte’s future with Spurs. They have not won back-to-back games since December, with a number of defeats coming along the way.

Conte has flirted with the idea of leaving. But he has also said a number of things that suggest that he is optimistic that he can transform the club.

Therefore, Tottenham fans will likely welcome players coming in that Conte clearly wants. De Vrij has previously been described as ‘one of the best‘ defenders in the world.

Spurs’ defence definitely needs to improve. They have looked vulnerable at various stages over the last few months.

Admittedly, offering a four-year deal to a 30-year-old may not be ideal – particularly if there are still doubts over whether Conte will stay at Tottenham.

But De Vrij established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe under Conte. So a reunion at Tottenham could prove to be a masterstroke.
