Report: Tottenham player worked 'ferociously' in pre-season
A report from The Athletic has outlined just how impressive Oliver Skipp has been since returning to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, with training ground sources claiming he worked ‘ferociously’ in pre-season.
What’s the story?
Skipp has been hugely impressive for some time now. He was one of the players who could rarely be criticised whenever he got a chance for Tottenham.
And he took his game to the next level during a season-long loan spell at Norwich last term. He was an integral part of Daniel Farke’s side as they strolled to the Championship title.
As The Athletic notes, there were questions about the 21-year-old’s future to be answered ahead of pre-season. There was interest from sides over another loan.
However, Skipp made the most of an opportunity to force his way into the plans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to The Athletic, the academy graduate worked ferociously to prove himself to Nuno Espirito Santo, who arrived just before pre-season began.
Skipp looks set to set the standard at Tottenham for years to come
This season could be a real breakout year for Skipp. Of course, many have insisted for some time that he is destined for an important role at Tottenham.
But he is now playing regularly in the Premier League. And he is living up to expectations.
His work-rate and tenacity is outstanding. And with that, it is surely fair to say that he is a player who could set the standard at Spurs for years to come.
