Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his official website that Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier has informed AC Milan that he wants to join the Serie A side this summer.
Aurier, 27, has been strongly linked with a move this summer despite being a constant part of Jose Mourinho’s plans at Tottenham. However, the 60-time Ivory Coast international has been constantly criticised by Spurs fans.
AC Milan and numerous other Italian sides have been linked with signing Aurier but it appears Milan are now leading the chase for the former Paris Saint-Germain star. That is because Aurier is keen on a move.
The report claims Aurier – who cost Tottenham £23million, a fee which Spurs want back if they are to sell (Mail) – has informed Milan that he wants to move to the San Siro. It remains to be seen if Spurs want to let him go.
TBR’s view – Surely Tottenham should keep Aurier?
Apart from a little mistake against Newcastle in a match that Spurs won anyway, Aurier has been excellent since the restart. Not only has been in decent form, but he has finished with excellent stats.
Clocking up 42 outings, Aurier had a hand in 10 goals thoughout 2019-20 and helped the north Londoners finish in the Europa League slot. A move to Milan would hardly be an improvement on Spurs.
If Spurs are to receive just £23million for Aurier, they would hardly find a better replacement for that money. He needs to be kept.
