Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela would jump at the chance to reunite with Jose Mourinho at his old club Roma – but it appears that Roma are not as keen on the player.
Lamela, 29, is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the London club – spending eight years with Spurs since joining the club for £30million from Roma, following the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a record fee.
The Argentina international has been in and out of the side for much of his Tottenham stay. Under Mourinho, Lamela played 54 times – but of his 35 outings this season, only 13 came from the start and 22 from the bench.
Regardless, £80,000-a-week (Spotrac) Lamela would come back ‘as soon as he can’ to Roma but president Dan Friedkin is not as keen, as per the report. Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Carlos Vinicius have also been linked.

TBR’s view – If Spurs can get a fee, then Lamela needs to go
Lamela has little future at Tottenham, even if Gareth Bale does not remain at Spurs. Daniel Levy is clever enough not to hand him a new contract but will also be aware that he needs to be sold this summer to get some cash for him.
Corriere Dello Sport claimed last week that Napoli were keen and that a fee could reach £8.5million and if Spurs receive a figure in that region then they have got to accept. But a move to Roma looks unlikely.
