Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have approached Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte over a move to lure the passionate manager back to London – and it is believed the Italian ‘kept his door open’.
The report comes just days after 51-year-old Conte ended a run of nine consecutive Serie A titles won by Juventus – as Inter sit at the top of the three. It is the first time a side other than Juventus have won the league since AC Milan did so in 2010-11.
The report claims that Conte was approached by Tottenham and while his loyalties remain with Inter Milan following the title win, he was open to listening to Daniel Levy’s offer. It is believes Conte is currently earning £215,000 a week at the San Siro.
Such a move would see Conte take another step in following Jose Mourinho’s steps – again – having already managed Chelsea and Inter. In 2018, Mourinho responded when asked about Conte: I don’t behave as a clown on the touchline.” (Football Italia).

TBR’s view – Is Conte the man for the Tottenham job?
If Spurs are to play to their strengths, they need an attacking manager. That is where they went wrong with Jose Mourinho. Tottenham’s best players are in the final third and they need a manager who can take advantage of that.
Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and so on, need a manager that can find a way to give them the freedom. Mourinho put the shackles on them, Ryan Mason is loosening them. Conte would lock them back up.
