Tottenham Hotspur briefly had interest in Manchester United’s Harry Maguire who now looks set for London rivals West Ham United.
That’s according to The Times who said that Spurs swiftly moved on to other targets after exploring Harry Maguire.

The report also noted that West Ham were able to offer Maguire something Tottenham couldn’t, guaranteed minutes.
Maguire’s preference was to join a side competing for qualification for the Champions League, so Spurs may have been a nice fit.
However, it seems that ultimately a consistency of minutes has swayed the England international towards East London.
Tottenham have of course now completed a deal for 22-year-old Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg.
Whether or not Tottenham’s interest in Maguire precluded that deal probably won’t be known.
But with Spurs still interested in one more addition at centre-back, it seems more likely that Maguire was compared to the likes of Edmond Tapsoba.
Spurs are thought to hold a long-standing interest in Tapsoba, someone who is actually now on the list for Manchester United.
Tottenham briefly held interest in a deal for Harry Maguire
It has to be said that ‘fantastic’ Harry Maguire would have been a stellar addition to an Ange Postecoglou side.
Maguire’s ball-playing seems to be heavily underrated at this stage of his career – just like a lot of his attributes.

And with Spurs showing exciting evidence of the way they’ll look to play this season in their friendly against Barcelona, Maguire would have fit right in.
Nonetheless, Maguire should also be a brilliant fit for David Moyes’ West Ham who put a heavy emphasis on set pieces.
England fans will know just how effective Maguire can be in those key moments.
And whilst Tottenham’s interest in Maguire seemingly never met the stage of a bid, it would have been fascinating to see him at the club.
Maguire has suffered quite unfair criticism in the last year or so and it will be satisfying to watch him once again show just how good he can be.
Maguire might not be a Spurs player in the coming season, but he will be hoping for a London revival.
