Report: Tottenham one of three clubs keen on Carlos Vinicius, valued at £46 million

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be one of three Premier League teams interested in the signature of Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius this season.

That is according to a report from TVI24 in Portugal, who are detailing the potential exit of last season’s top scorer in the Portuguese top-flight.

It is suggested that three English teams have made enquiries for the 25-year-old Brazilian, with Tottenham believed to be one of those clubs.

One unnamed team has even made a €45 million (£41m) approach already, which has been rejected.

Benfica, at the time, were hoping for a figure in the region of €60 million (£55.5m). However, after a summer of heavy spending, they are eager to make back some money and could go as low as €50-€55 million (£46m-£51m).

Undoubtedly, Vinicius is exactly the type of striker Jose Mourinho would want to challenge Harry Kane at Tottenham.

Bullish, determined, and dangerous in front of goal, Vinicius is the archetypal Mourinho striker.

He scored 24 goals in 47 games last season, including 18 in the league to be crowned the joint Liga NOS top-scorer with Rio Ave’s Iranian star Mehdi Taremi and team-mate Pizzi.

However, despite his obvious fit and Mourinho’s good relations with his agency, Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute, a deal looks very unlikely considering the current asking price.

But it certainly looks like being a name to keep your eyes on Tottenham fans, as Vinicius looks the perfect Mourinho frontman.
