Report: Tottenham officials think Youri Tielemans is open to move
Some at Tottenham Hotspur believe that Youri Tielemans is open to joining them from Leicester City this summer, with Give Me Sport reporting that Spurs plan to target the Belgian should they finish in the Champions League places.
Antonio Conte’s men look to be on pole position to finish fourth in the top-flight. They are flying right now, while Arsenal have lost their last two.
Obviously, qualifying for the Champions League could be huge for Spurs. Not only would it boost their hopes of keeping the likes of Antonio Conte and Harry Kane, but it would also open the door for some more exciting deals in the summer window.
And it seems that one of those Tottenham have their eye on is a move for Tielemans. Recent reports claimed that Spurs want the 24-year-old as he approaches the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium.
Tielemans has been linked with a host of sides. However, Tottenham believe that qualifying for the Champions League will give them an advantage in the pursuit of the midfielder.
Give Me Sport reports that officials at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium believe that Tielemans is open to joining the club. Meanwhile, his valuation is said to be £30 million.
Youri Tielemans could be an absolute steal for Tottenham at £30m – even with contract expiring
Tielemans’ form has dipped at times. And he is approaching the final 12 months of his contract. So some may deem the asking price to be steep.
However, he is a ‘special‘ player who should only get better in the years to come. He certainly looks to have more than enough potential to make the step up to the Champions League.
And if Tottenham can get a deal done for Tielemans, it could well prove to be an absolute masterstroke in the coming years.
