Tottenham Hotspur have now stepped up their interest in Nikola Milenkovic, The Times suggest.
Making their move
Milenkovic has been linked with a move to Spurs for much of the summer so far, but it seems that Fabio Paratici and Nuno have now settled on signing him as their top choice defensive target.
Tottenham have already landed Cristian Romero recently to bolster their defence.
However, Spurs struggled badly at the back last season, that two central defenders have been targeted.
Fiorentina have already agreed to sell Milenkovic to West Ham United for £14 million, but that deal fell through at the last minute.
Potential bargain?
It means that Spurs now have the opportunity to sign the Serbian unopposed, and at that price tag he could work out as a potential bargain.
Milenkovic is solid in the air, but also very capable with the ball at his feet.
Indeed he has been said to have ‘incredible potential’ by Partizan direcotr Ivica Iliev in Labora Viola.

And he is a player who Tottenham transfer chief Fabio Paratici knows well, as he tried to sign him while at Juventus, according to the Times’ report.
If Milenkovic does join Spurs this summer he may actually have his work cut out forcing his way into the team now.
Both Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez impressed on opening day against Manchester City and there seems to be real competition for places emerging at the back now.
