Report: Tottenham now have 'strong interest' in Marash Kumbulla

Tottenham Hotspur may turn their attention toward the signing of Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla this summer, according to reports.

Corriere di Verona (print edition, 02/09/20; pg 13) is reporting that Tottenham are ready to swoop in as Inter Milan cool their interest in the Albanian defender.

The report claims there is now ‘strong interest’ from Spurs in the talented centre-back, who has been tentatively linked to Tottenham in the past.

It has previously been widely believed that Kumbulla to Inter Milan was as good as done.

Last month, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Kumbulla had agreed to join Inter with a €30 million (£26.6m) deal between the two sides set to be ironed out.

However, Inter have now decided to not follow through with the deal and target cheaper more experienced options.

It also means that Milan Skriniar, himself a reported Tottenham target, is likely to stick around with the Nerazzurri.

But Tottenham remain in the hunt for a new centre-back and Kumbulla might finally be the option they are looking for.

Strong, technically gifted and young enough to improve, he would be an ideal recruit for Jose Mourinho’s team.

Of course, Tottenham would need to shift some deadwood first and raise the funds, but a move for Kumbulla might just be back on the agenda in North London.
