Tottenham are said to be considering a move for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, according to EuroSport.

Interest mounting

Sarr caught the eye in the Premier League two seasons ago and then helped Watford back into the top flight last term – with Emile Heskey calling him ‘electrifying’ (HITC).

He has since been linked with a range of top clubs and it is Tottenham who are now pushing to land the forward.

Watford are determined to keep hold of Sarr, following their promotion back to the top flight, with the winger now valued at over £50 million.

Too expensive?

At that price he would really have to be considered a lavish purchase for Tottenham.

But it understandable why Watford want so much for their star man.

“He’s a game winner, even when we’re not playing that well, he’s like our Messi,” his Watford teammate, Andre Gray, said to the Watford Observer.

“He is one of them players that you just give him the ball, and just let him do what he’s doing.”

While Sarr’s speed and dribbling quality would appeal, Tottenham are actually already well stocked in the wing areas.

Spurs have just brought in Bryan Gil to add to their options in that department, which include Steven Bergwijn and Heung-Min Son.

While another attacker would be useful for Nuno, with Tottenham operating with a budget which isn’t the largest, they must be cautious with their spending.

And throwing huge sums of cash at Sarr may be a questionable tactic, given Watford’s asking price.
