Report: Tottenham make contact about loan deal for Franck Kessie

Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Barcelona regarding a potential move for Franck Kessie, with Sport claiming that Antonio Conte’s men are now the favourites to sign the midfielder.

Kessie has endured a frustrating time since moving to Camp Nou in the summer. He has been unable to establish himself as a regular starter in Xavi’s side. And there is already speculation that he could leave the club.

Sport reports that both Inter Milan and Napoli have been in touch with his agent. Meanwhile, Tottenham have reached out to the Catalan giants themselves.

Tottenham make offer for Kessie

In fact, Spurs are prepared to take Kessie on loan with an option to buy. However, there is an issue for his potential admirers.

Kessie earns over £83,000-a-week net in Catalonia, according to Sport. And it has been claimed that all three of the clubs in the running for his signature have asked that he lowers his wage demands.

Kessie wants to stay at Barca for the rest of the season in the hope of turning his fortunes around. So perhaps it would be fair to assume that he will feel under little pressure to compromise with the clubs chasing his signature for the time-being.

Much may depend on what kind of terms Barcelona want for Kessie. He was someone who was outstanding in Serie A before his switch, helping the Rossoneri to the Scudetto last season.

He has previously been described as an ‘extraordinary‘ talent. And Sport claims that Antonio Conte knows the player extremely well.

Based on the reports from Spain, it would appear that Tottenham are very interested in bringing Kessie to North London.

But clearly, they are not the only side in the running for his signature.
