Tottenham have reportedly made an approach for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele.

According to Goal, Spurs have made contact with French top-flight club Lyon about their 23-year-old.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho’s team have joined London rivals Chelsea in chasing the striker during this current January transfer window.

The report details that Spurs made the approach after discovering that their first-choice Harry Kane will be out of action until April through injury.

Goal adds that there has been no official bid yet for Dembele and that Lyon don’t want to sell him.

Mourinho does need to find a solution quickly in the transfer market after suffering the blow of losing Kane for at least three months.

Dembele is an in-form striker with three goals in two games during 2020 and his Lyon tally so far this season is at 13 from 27 games across all competitions.

TBR’s View:

Dembele is a highly-rated youngster that could be a brilliant option to replace injured star Kane, but there is going to be a lot of pressure on any potential new signing to hit the ground running.

The Frenchman has 13 goals in 25 caps for his nation’s Under-21s side, while his time at Celtic saw him manage 51 goals in 94 appearances.

He’s an all-action forward that has the potential to make a serious impact in England if he returns after a previous spell at Fulham, but it looks like Lyon want to keep hold of the rising star.
